Pr. Chance is a U.S. Navy veteran, Author of 13 books, and Lifestyle Strategist. After enjoying a successful naval career, he transitioned from the military to civilian life and pursued a rewarding career in humanitarian relief. His service to the needy has now taken him to over 26 countries on 6 continents. He is the Founder of Strategic Secrets, the Co-Founder of 7th Seal Missions Resources, and serves on the board of various Non-Profit organizations. He's also a graduate of Central Texas College, Columbia College, Andrew Jackson University, Amazing Facts College of Evangelism, and American Graduate University.


Chance and his B.M.W (Beautiful Marvelous Wife), Rhonitta, enjoy bringing physical and spiritual relief to thousands of suffering and underserved people - both in the U.S. and around the world. They have conducted outreach campaigns in some of the most neglected and at-risk cities in America and in countries such as Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Liberia, Suriname, Kenya, Tanzania, and Ghana - transforming the lives of thousands of families as a result.


The Chances are passionate about inspiring faith in others, learning, and teaching. On the home front, he enjoys soccer, tennis, writing, and spending both quality and quantity time with his family. Together, they travel frequently and lead very productive lives in Texas.

Martin Ekoumou, MD., MPH, PhD.(c)

For over 20 years, Dr. Ekoumou has been involved with consulting work in which he advises and orients health professionals and caregivers. He participates in numerous health promotion activities domestically and internationally. Dr. Ekoumou addresses timely health promotion issues in schools, health institutions, and other public venues.


Dr. Ekoumou is fluent in French, English and Spanish; and he has emerged as a leader who inspires at national, international, and interdenominational levels of health promotion and education. Drawing from his grace-based faith and warm humor, Dr. Ekoumou delivers holistic health messages under the title, “Don’t Lose Hope”-- captivating innovative messages packed with scientific relevance, professionalism, and holistic health integrity.

Professional background includes:


• Received the French Scientific Baccalaureate–Series D (Mathematics & Physics)--BS degree, earned from the Adventist College of Nanga Eboko in

Cameroon (1981).

• Attended Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama; there he studied Pre-medicine (1985).

• Studied medicine, and held position of MD of General Surgery in La Universidad de Montemorelos in Mexico (1993).


At La Universidad De Montemorelos, in November 25, 1993, Dr. Ekoumou received the Best Physician Award in Medical, Social, and Community Services.


• Partnered in launching, and taught in, the Foundations in Diversity and Service Excellence; a statewide training program for health

professionals and caregivers at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor Michigan (2001).


First African born AmeriCorps Volunteer for National & Community Service in in The United States in 2002.


• Obtained his Master in International Health / Global Health, and an Academic Certificate in Reproductive Health (CRH) from Loma Linda University

School of Public Health in California (2005).

• Served on faculty at Western Governors University (WGU), teaching and mentoring graduate students in the College of Health Professions (2007-2010).


At WGU, Dr. Ekoumou received the award of Excellent Professor for the academic year 2010.


Dr. Ekoumou is currently completing his dissertation research at Walden University in fulfillment of a PhD in Public Health, specializing in Community Health Promotion and Education while promoting the quality of life and wellbeing for all people and the communities in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) of South Texas and in the Global Community.


In addition, Dr. Ekoumou is Director of Clinical Education and Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas University Rio Grande Valley - UTRGV in South Texas – www.utrgv.edu. In September 22, 2019, Dr. Ekoumou received UTRGV Student Mentoring Award for the year 2019; and the UTRGV 2020 Award of Excellence in Community Outreach and Services.

Rommel Johnson, PhD., LPC, CAADC, CRC, NCC.

Rommel Johnson holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Western Michigan University and Master of Arts degrees in Community Counseling and Youth Ministry from Andrews University. Dr. Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the States of Michigan and Texas. Dr. Johnson is Board Certified in General Counseling, Addiction Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Dr. Johnson has over 13 years of counseling experience and has worked with clients of many diverse backgrounds and presenting problems, both within the United States and internationally. Dr. Johnson is the Owner of Eurisko Counseling, Training and Recovery, a counseling firm with offices in the states of Michigan and Texas where he lives with his wife and two children. In his counseling practice, he is especially attuned to the complex dynamics of mental health and the religious experience.


Dr. Johnson currently works as an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Services & Counseling at the University of Texas (Rio Grande Valley) Edinburg, Texas. Prior to that he served as an Adjunct faculty member at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan as well as a mental health counselor in the Counseling and Testing center on the campus. Dr. Johnson has presented on various topics at several regional and national counseling conferences and is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, the Michigan Counseling Association and the North Central and Southern Associations for Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Johnson’s academic research focuses on the experiences of African Caribbean immigrants with race in America.


Dr. Johnson is very passion about supporting young adults and teenagers. Additionally, he consistently utilizes his counseling expertise to address various issues through workshops and presentations on issues of mental health awareness, addiction, diversity, race, privilege and sexual harassment to schools, churches, law enforcement, state, federal and various community agencies. Dr. Johnson loves spending time with his family, especially outdoors. His favorite scripture is found in Galatians 6:9. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (NIV).

Dr. Nikimya Ligon-Barnes

Dr. Nikimya Ligon-Barnes is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. Nikimya is the founder and owner of her private practice. She has worked in the fields of education and psychology for close to 25 years. Dr. Ligon-Barnes was also an adjunct professor for graduate studies at the University of Bridgeport. She also mentors new psychologists and doctoral interns. Nikimya is married and has a 1 year old daughter...one of God’s greatest blessings!! She loves to travel and has participated in educational outreach efforts in West Africa and Japan. Dr. Ligon-Barnes is passionate about helping people become their “best selves!”

Robert Louis, Ph.D., RSW

Dr. Robert Louis is a University Professor. He develops and applies multidisciplinary empirical methods in Applied Human Sciences research, focusing on Resilience activation. ​

He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Human Science from Montreal University and his Bachelor and Master's degrees from Laurentian University. Dr. Louis has internationally published many scientific articles, including recent findings on resilience activation in The European Peer-Reviewed Journal “Child Abuse Note Book” (https://www.cairn-int.info/article-E_CNMI_192_0027--the-activation-of-resilience-in-placed.htm)​

He also has a long history of participating in international, world-class scientific activities including: ​


- The 4th World Congress on Resilience, Palais du Pharo, Marseille – France (2018). ​

- The 3rd World Congress on Resilience, Quebec, Canada (2016). ​

- The International Conference on Resilience, Nova Scotia (2015).​

- The World Congress on Suicide, Montreal, Canada (2013). ​


​Professor Louis is a Clinical Social Worker and member in good standing of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is a collaborator to Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child.​

Join us for the culmination of this series with a group panel discussion and LIVE Q&A. Panelists include some of the guest presenters you've seen already, including, Dr. Dona Cooper-Dockery, Dr. Romel Johnson, Dr. Robert Louis, and Dr. Martin Ekoumou. New to the panel line-up are Jhuamia Pile, MHFA; Lakeisha Logan, PA; Dr. Shirley Barbosa, MD, NP; and Jerry Tamayo, Ph.D.


Dr. Edwin Jerry S. Tamayo is a well-sought after national and international speaker on health and wellness. His presentations are founded upon scientific studies in the areas of physiology and nutritional biochemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Medical Genetics and Nutritional Biochemistry (with a cognate in Science Communication), and M.S. in Biology with emphasis in Cellular Physiology. He also has basic and advanced certifications in Food, Health, Wellness and Sports Nutrition; Health Coaching, and a leadership certification in Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP).


For 18 years, he taught Human Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics, and Biochemistry in the Philippines. Since 2006, he has been teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition and Diet Therapy, U.S. Health Care Delivery, and Healthcare Communication at South Texas College – where he was also the former chair of the Bachelor’s in Medical and Health Services Management. He also served as adjunct lecturer at the University of Texas-RGV, and at the Cooper Wellness and Disease Prevention Center.


Dr. Tamayo is the founder and CEO of the HealthSpeaks WellnessSeminars, and the SaLUNaT (Saving Lives Using Nature’s Therapeutics) Wellness Consultancy. He recently presented in three scientific international conventions on vegan nutrition and wellness held in McAllen, Texas (April 2018), in Las Vegas, USA (November 2017), and at the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila, Philippines (December 2016).


Since 2010, he has been conducting monthly seminar series on wellness and vegan nutrition at the Better Living and Community Center in Edinburg, Texas and at . His seminars emphasize clear understanding of the physiological and biochemical aspects of health and wellness. Some of the places where he has conducted lifestyle and wellness seminars include the Rio Grande Valley, Hawaii, California, Louisiana, Tennessee, Canada, and the Philippines. His scientific studies include the genetic, diet and lifestyle factors of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and obesity.
